Charity Walks

During October & November we are looking to raise money for our chosen Charity.  It would be lovely to have you join us.

Nordic Walk it! is raising money for Air Ambulance

What to bring in addition to your enthusiasm?  A packed lunch, and at least a litre of water per person, money for your drinks at the pub!

Be prepared: For whatever the weather!

Date: 20th October. £10 per person.

Start:  Uppingham 9.30 am.

End: Easton-on-the-hilll (approximately 4 pm)

Distance:  15 mile linear walk

Meeting in the Uppingham Market Square - hopefully with a bacon butty from the Falcon (additional cost), following the winding River Welland as it weaves it's way through Bisbrooke, Seaton, Harringworht, over Turtle Bridge, to Barrowden (for lunch), then on to Tixover, Geeston and last but not least Easton on the Hill.  This is a super 15-mile linear walk.

Date: 3rd November. £10 per person.

Start:  Tugby 9.30 am.   End: Tugby (approximately 2 pm)

Distance: 11.5 circular walk, with the option to to complete half as a linear walk

Meeting at Tugby, we take a southerly route towards Glooston using roads and footpaths (roughly 5 miles) where we can stop for lunch. Anyone who wants to do a shorter walk can finish here or start here to join us for the walk back to Tugby. Leaving Glooston we head out westerly along the old roman road, then take the route towards Noseley Hall which can be seen in the distance. Nosely Hall has been in the Hazlerigg family since 1419. Leaving Noseley Park we then continue north through the Rolleston Estate, once the home of Lord Churchill, Winston Churchill's cousin, who was Lord in Waiting to Queen Victoria. Carrying on Northwards across fields, we then return back to Tugby. Roughly 12 miles with a lunch stop at 5 miles. Approx 4 hours in total.

The owner must respect any signage pertaining to dogs on the walk, such as please keep your dog on a lead, and maintain control of the dog at all times, take full responsibility for its actions and clean up after it. 3rd party insurance must be in place. Owners are also asked to arrive 15 minutes in advance so that their dog is settled prior to the walk.
