Staying Safe Together

Click here to read the latest government guidelines on what we all need to do to maintain our personal safety.

Nordic Walk it! safely….check your health, wash your hands before and after attending, keep a face mask in your pocket for emergencies, only use your own equipment and never share drinks or snacks.  Be mindful to maintain social distancing and not to cluster together before, during and after your session.

Please do NOT attend …. if you are exhibiting any of the coronavirus symptoms

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Or…

  • if you have been in contact with anyone exhibiting/confirmed as having any of these symptoms or the virus.

In this event of either of the above, please cancel your registration and notify your walk leader.  No charge will be made.

Inclement Weather Policy:

Throughout the year, there may be times when the weather throws a few curveballs our way.  Our number one aim is to ensure your safety and enjoyment when out walking, to do this we will enact the following:
  • We will always aim to adventure out, even when wet, snowy and moderately windy, but will cancel if it is unsafe to travel to the appointed destination or treacherous underfoot.
  • For example, walks MAY be cancelled if gale force winds, torrential rain, thunder and lightning are forecast.  This will usually be assessed on the day of the walk as forecasts often change overnight.
  • Throughout all of our walks, your walk leader monitors conditions to ensure your ongoing safety and will implement any necessary precautions including shortening and/or halting the session to ensure safety.
  • If cancelling a walk a note will be placed at the top of this page one hour in advance of your walk.

Dog Policy

Experienced walkers are welcome to bring their dogs (unless otherwise indicated) as long as they can be controlled off and on leads, interact well with other walkers/dogs, and can get across styles. The owner must respect any signage pertaining to dogs on the walk, such as please keep your dog on a lead, and maintain control of the dog at all times, take full responsibility for its actions and clean up after it. 3rd party insurance must be in place. Owners are also asked to arrive 15 minutes in advance so that their dog is settled prior to the walk.
